2 - RECOGNITION OF THE TIMES WE LIVE IN
We read in Daniel 9:26
as follows:” The end will come like a
flood, bringing the war and destruction which God has prepared”.
Jesus says in Mathew
24: 6 and 7: “You are going to hear the
noise of battles close by and the news of battles far away; but do not be
troubled. Such things must happen, but they do not mean that the end has
come. Countries will fight each other;
kingdoms will attack one another. There will be famines and earthquakes
everywhere”. And again in Mark 13: 7 and 8: “And don't be troubled when you hear the noise of battles close by and
news of battles far away. Such things must happen, but they do not mean that
the end has come. Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one
another. There will be earthquakes everywhere, and there will be famines. These
things are like the first pains of childbirth”.
In addition we read in
Luke 21 verses 25-28: “There will be
strange things happening to the sun, the moon, and the stars. On earth whole
countries will be in despair, afraid of the roar of the sea and the raging
tides. People will faint from fear as they wait for what is coming over the
whole earth, for the powers in space will be driven from their courses. Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in a
cloud with great power and glory. When these things begin to happen, stand up
and raise your heads, because your salvation is near.”
-----It is not
difficult to recognize that the time we live in now is very similar to the time
represented in the texts cited above.
All this will end in a
war called the war of Armageddon as we read in Revelation 16:16 and 17: “Then the spirits brought the kings together
in the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon”. Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl in the air. A loud voice
came from the throne in the temple, saying, “It is done!” There
were flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder, and a terrible
earthquake………”
Evangelist John of Patmos writes the Book of
Revelation
